Less is More, Especially in Healthcare

Less is More, Especially in Healthcare

While doing market research for our eyecare business in Nigeria, I noticed something eye-opening and it's now shaping how we operate across all our centers in India and Nigeria.

We have the best lenses. The latest technology. And we were excited to communicate every option to our patients.

In our minds, we were being transparent and helpful.
But in reality, we were overwhelming them.

Patients don't come to us for a menu of medical choices. They come to us with a problem, looking for a trusted solution.

With so much medical information already online, they don't want to navigate through 100 different treatments. They want 1 or 2 clear, expert-backed recommendations directly from the doctor they trust.

When we audited our call center conversations, this gap was clear.
We were explaining the problem and listing all the options and names of complicated technologies.
But patients were asking:

  • What's the solution for me?
  • What will it cost?

That insight led us to shift our approach at Eye-Q.

We've adopted a solution-first model: one where every patient feels the confidence, clarity, and care that comes from knowing they're in expert hands.

In a tech-driven world full of choices, sometimes more creates confusion.
And less, when done right, becomes more.

Because one of my biggest learnings is that in healthcare, simplicity builds trust.
